the thinking never stops

Lately I can't stop thinking. Possibly a result of being so busy and not really knowing how to slow down. Also possibly the added pressure of having studio rent to pay now, and my income depending almost solely on Ink & Spindle and my textile label. It is a lot of fun, but it's also scary.

Anyway one thing I've been thinking about is what to print next, and which (if any) of my old designs I should bring back to life at the new studio. Below are a few candidates based on recent requests. I would LOVE to hear what you'd like. Or maybe you have some requests for what I design next. Like 'more small scale prints for craft projects' etc etc.

Wild Geese

Smaller scale birch (I'd still use the new branch shape and texture though)

Riverside Adventures

Bonsai Forest

Bulokku

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Even though I don't always have time to respond to comments, I do really appreciate everyone's feedback and kind words. I still value this blog & everyone's support very much, so thank you :)

This probably isn't what you'd like to hear, but I'm partial to the smaller scale birch in the original branch shape and have been secretly hoping a hidden stash of this would appear. I may be in the minority on that though.

I also really like the Bulokko and would be happy to see it again.

Have you considered any panel projects? The sort where you can quick sew around them into stuffies.

I love your prints because they are very simple, minimal.
Have you thought about seashell motives or maybe dry thistle?

The geese, the geese! I love it.

I'd love some smaller scale prints as I mainly make smaller type things. Maybe a small print australian native floral type thing?

definitely the geese! And I like Natalija's suggestion re thistle. Because I use your fabric for clothes I find ones that have less ink...survive the numerous washes they undergo on a regular basis ('cause we wear them all the time 'cause they're our fav clothes!). So I LOVE my fuschia birch wrap skirt but it has faded heaps, which is cool 'cause it looks (and is) well loved.

I have always loved your birch tree print! I also like Bulokko too.... I think that you have some beautiful ideas and really no matter what you make I think I would like it. How about another type of tree, one with more knots in the bark like oak or something or flowers. I like the 2 colour fabrics!

Bulokku!!! I love geometric prints for craft projects.

Definitely the Bulokku! Partly because I can't ever seem to get any before it sells out and partly because I think it has so many different great possible applications!

Bulokku!! Love this print! I'd love to see more abstract work like this one!

I really like the look of the wild geese although I can't say I'm crazy about the color. The Bulokko is really cool as well.

Congratulations to you Lara, Bianca and Teegs on setting up Ink & Spindle - you may feel a little overwhelmed at times but it will be worth all the effort involved. Bulokko is already a favourite of mine - but I also love the Bonsai forest.

Birch, birch, birch! Definitely bring back birch!

Geese! I love the wild geese. The first fabric I bought from your store was the geese in red!
I'd also love to see a small print of the wattle birds that feature on acacia - say 5cm birds :)

I love all the designs you have done so far. Personally, I would like wildgeese in a dark background fabric with a darkish print - say duck egg blue on charcoal, or black on red (nd vice versa).

I find the darker fabrics don't get as dirty when using them for bag projects.

Thank you for asking our opinions!

I love the wild geese, the small scale birch and the bulokko. I also love the idea of small scale prints for small craft projects.

I am falling more and more in love with your designs every day.

Oh,the geese! Don't you wish that we actually saw geese flying south before winter here? Or seasons. I'd just like some proper seasons.

But anyway! Love the geese. And the idea of smaller scale birch. I won't be at all helpful if I just list them all though, will I??

oh the smaller birch for sure!

Your Bulokku print is brilliant!
I love all the color range and I think they all made brilliant products too.

I would love to get my hands on some small scale birch. And bonsai forest -- that would surely compel me to make something! Would also love to see them in the cotton/linen blend. (That thinking -- it's inspiring!)

really love the geese!!! a lot!

Small scale birch is excellent! I usually make small things with beautiful fabrics like these (mostly because of the cost), so I would rather buy small scale - that means the pattern has a chance to shine!

I'd love to see your beautiful birch in a small scale...and in a lovely robin's egg/teal/turquoise blue.

Then I'd be asking you to make it into that lamp I've always wanted!
(I'm the one at a recent market who ummed and arred over the gold birch lamp for what felt like hours!)

love your work! Would love to see small scale birch in the lovely color in this post and also in chocolate. Would also love the Wild Geese in Chocolate and the Bonsai Forest in green.

This is an amazing journey you've begun with Ink and Spindle, that's for sure !

Your designs are all beautiful, but I especially love the birch design and the bulokku design. I think they appeal to me because of their graphic quality and the fact that they feel very adaptable to many kinds of projects (from craft to interior). They also display great combination of simplicity and playfulness, that is so hard to find.

Bring back Bulokku, for sure. Also, smaller scale birch would be great, and smaller scale geese. Generally, I like the smaller scale stuff because I make smaller things :)

I adore the smaller scale print - it's my all time favourite of yours.... plus, my stash of it is getting low, and I'd love some more! ha!

I really like the idea of smaller scale versions of wild geese and birch.

I loved the Bonsai Forest and would love to see it again. Also I'd vote for small scales for craft projects.

I love the birch and really like the geese. I guess they appeal to the Canadian in me.

The red bonsai!! This is my favourite print ever!! :o) I'd love to see it in a soft fabric for dressmaking too.

Hi Lara this is a late comment as I have been away. I bought some of your beautiful acacia fabric and just love it but I would be interested in smaller prints for my crafty projects. As I use only small pieces of the fabric the pattern can get lost if it is too big - I am sure you know what I mean. Hope this helps.

For sure the 'Wild Geese' and 'smaller scale Birch'.... those are lovely (well, they are all lovely)!

i love the Geese, the birch and the the adventure one is really cute too. I'd love it if you reissued them - any idea if you will? Where can I look to find out if/when you do so? Would LOVE to use your prints in my house. They are so very lovely.

Cheers,

I just discovered you blog and work today and I'm so impressed! I'm loving Bulokku, and the wild goose print, too. Great work!! I think the thistle idea is a good one.
