a brief respite

We are getting so close to having the studio up and running and I am feeling almost giddy with excitement. There's still a lot of things to do - but we have all the pieces of the puzzle in sight and now it's a matter of waiting for them to arrive and then putting them all together.

This week Pete is home on Staycation (a concept that I love, and am starting to see pop up elsewhere on blogland), and I've taken the opportunity to chill out a little myself. I read a book for the first time in ages, and actually did some pattern designing!

I had told myself "no I can't do a wattle design because Tim Growcott has already done one", but it's funny how when you do something in your own style it turns out completely different!

I loooove how this print turned out and I hope you do too. I think it will be the first design I print in the new studio.

So pretty. The delicate leaves and pompoms and the realistic birds. Very nice! How wonderful it will be to see your first product.

I have that Tim Growcott one in the raspberry, on a mattt backpack. It's fab. Yours is completely different! I love it.

I'm getting very excited about Ink and Spindle and what you girls come up with!

Oh it's just beautiful Lara!! I absolutely love it and can't wait to see it all printed up...
I've got two wattle trees in my backyard and have been really inspired by the beautiful shapes too, I just haven't had a chance to turn it into a pattern yet!

And I wanted to let you know when I was shopping in Freo on the weekend I spotted a lady with a bag made from your ginkgo fabric (I think it might have been a mattt bag)... Anyway it looked really awesome!!

This is a wonderful print Lara, just beautiful.

I have been wishing for the last few years for some Aussie inspired prints that were not kitch - not a kangeroo in site, but very aussie.

I got the current issue of Homespun in the mail today and enjoyed seeing another familiar blogger inside.

Gorgeous design!
And I want to congratulate you on the article in Homespun! I was just in the supermarket looking for a craft magazine and the bird on the front of homespun caught my eye and I recognised the fabric, thinking 'i want to make that' I bought the magazine and have just read the article. Of course now I want to go home from work and make birdies!! (they're cuter than the ones I've been making of late!)

Thta's a beautiful print. They look like wattle birds (perhaps more placid than the ones in our garden, which like to fly at your head at the moment!)

OMG I love this soooooo much!!! Can't wait till it's available to buy! All I hear at home right now is our resident Wattle Bird squarking as my cat likes to tease it. (There must be a nest.)
