Birch revisited

Birch Forest has always been the most popular print in my collection, and I have to admit it's my favorite too. Most of my sewing projects have been made with this fabric.

However, there's always been a couple of things that slightly bother me about this print:

1) If I'm making something small, I can't always get enough birds or branches in the section of fabric I'm using.

2) The texture on the tree trunks isn't quite right.

Soooo, as I plan to reimage this design anyway at the new studio (full width, no less!), I'm taking the opportunity to change some things. But thought it might be wise to run them past you first!

Note that this is a particularly bird heavy section - there aren't always that many birds!

So... what do you think? *Nail biting ensues*

I'm always trying to use the bird bits, so I love it!

I look forward to having birch forest cushions from each of the designs, too.

Subtle but savvy changes! I know what you mean when little things in a design bug you - now you can rest easy! :)

The new bark look much more random and natural, and I really like it!

It looks really lovely. Don't get me wrong, the old version was fantastic too! Can't wait for it to come out, I've been waiting patiently!! Michelle xox

I really love it. I'm looking forward to buying some in this colourway and hopefully some form of blue!

Are you exploring new colours? I'm been looking for that steel blue/grey colour everywhere! [Your other blues are great too!]

Ah, yes, I see your improvements... definitely worthwhile, in comparison- tho the first worked nicely, too.

it is rather bird heavy in this section. i think i just got used to not having many birds in the fabric. but i do enjoy the new texture on the tree trunks. at first i wasn't too keen on it, but looking in comparison to the previous design, i can see how this is better and more realistic.

and the gray is nice too!

I loved to work with the bench forest fabric! I still have some of the brown but would love to buy some other colours with more birds, like orange and blue.

I think it's a beautiful fabric! I can't wait to make some cushions out of it.

Love.
I'm fine with the old bird count, but this one will make it easier for small things.

If the US economy wasn't collapsing right now, I would be ordering 30 meters!

I like this one very much, but I like the look of the older one better (more simple). I do think the tree trunks are more realistic in the new version. Maybe one of the things that I like about the older version are the branches. They didn't have as many smaller branches which adds to the clean, simple look. How about keep the way the branches looked before + more birds + new tree trunks? Just a suggestion...I am excited for this to be available in the full width!

Both are lovely but I prefer less birds and the new trees - just to be contrary! I guess it depends what you want to use it for. Hard decisions!!
