more city love

Thanks to everyone who gave their input on my Gocco woes. Lots of good suggestions there. I think it might have been a combination of things - ink, fabric texture ... frustration ;)

I'm sure some people reading this blog are getting kind of sick of my hometown adoration, but whenever I'm doodling and feel like experimenting with a new style, it's always Melbourne related stuff that pops into my head.

I've always wanted to try this hand-drawn-fancy-lettering look that I've seen around the traps, and got my inspiration from this fantastic Dover book we happened to have on the shelf: "Bizarre & Ornamental Alphabets".

Fun fun. Okay back to enjoying the long weekend :)

But Melbourne is lovely, no need for apologies! You do seem to like trams more than is advisable though, given how over crowded they've become lately.

So nice to catch up with everything you've been up to now I'm back from my hols (spent with crazy Aussie cousins-in-law). I really would love to see Melbourne one day.

Wow, I definitely need to get that book! Especially considering fonts are pretty much my job. Your lettering is lovely ;)

Bring on the Melbourne-lovin'. I love it too; never get bored with it. We should all be loving our home towns more I think.

I love your artwork and it is so much fun to learn more about a city so far from where I am. Thanks for sharing the Melbourne love!

Keep the Melbourne adoration coming!
I moved away from Melbourne for work 18 months ago, and I miss being there every day.
A couple of months ago, I came across your blog (and beautiful fabric), and now it's one of the Melbourne blogs I read whenever I get pangs of homesickness (which is pretty often these days!).
It's wonderful to see to see all the Melbourness.
