Hello Winter

So begins what I must say is the most difficult season of the year for me.

On hot days when everyone else is sweltering I am fine, but give me a cold day and I struggle. Mainly when indoors, though. Although the weather doesn't get all that cold here in Australia, the main problem is that our houses often aren't very well insulated and we don't always have very good heating. Eg when it's 14 degrees outside, it's 14 degrees inside too. Wake up in the morning and OMG. Brrrrrr.

That said I do love rugging up in scarf and gloves and hat and boots and sitting in cosy cafes watching the weather outside :)

P.S. - thanks so much everyone for your valuable feedback on the houses print! I received some colour samples back today and they look great. I'm so happy about this one :) And it will be available FULL WIDTH for once! That's around 140cm of printy width goodness. Yay!!

Oh, the cold! I feel as if I have an ice-cream headache, all over. Just have to keep reminding ourselves that it won't last forever.

Have courage! Canada's only borrowing the sun. We'll give it back in a few months :)

Same problem across the Ditch. Obviously, the colonists thought NZ was some South Seas Tropical Paradise and our house builders are only just figuring out it's not. The kids & I go into hibernation mode and craft lots;-)

Oh, man, the houses...we have an oooold one, which is usually a couple degrees COLDER than the outside...which is great for summer, but ridiculous in winter!! And NZ houses?? Don't get me started....the one we stayed in over the winter up in the Mackenzie Basin, the pipes froze repeatedly, burst twice, NO insulation, cracks all over the place...ugh. And then there's me...my blood temp was set in Hawaii, where I grew up. :( :p

I'm a winter hater too!
But I do love your little "Hello Winter" graphic, it does make the grey rainy day seem a little brighter.

Oh, see I like the cold. I like it when it's hot too. I just like the extremes of temperature. Just think you can pop on a beret, wrap up in a scarf, pick out your fav boots. See there's plenty of reason to like winter.

Couldn't agree more. Having grown up in Denmark, you'd think I'd be used to the cold, but the houses there are double brick and treble glazed and heated with real heat (not hot air!!). Have just donned the pjs and the dressing gown and turned the electric blanket on - early bed is a must to stay warm.

That's the problem with warm countries: here in Portugal our homes are also freezing during the Winter months! We almost have to wear a coat inside... well, I wear gloves when I'm working at the computer...

I would do anything for a little cold weather. I live in Florida and it's hot or hot. Believe me, I rather snug than sweat. We don't get much of a weather change, just mild (rare), hot or caliente hot! It's nice to have once in a while some weather change.

We're supposed to be nearing Summer her in Idaho, but it's been pretty shy...:( I wish it would hurry, I so love the warm weather. When it gets warmer you should visit!!

You just need to move into a poorly designed townhouse built within the last ten years... like the one we just moved into - its winter, yet the use of the oven alone can keep it toasty warm :-S it's good now, but im not looking forward to summer...

I love winter - i think it's the only time I can wear a beanie and people won't assume i'm going to mug them...

It's so funny to hear about the cold - when we are having such warm and lovely weather this spring ( well not today because it's raining).

I am also working on a house - or rather a neighborhood inspired print. I'm painting the positive - so I cannot get the satisfaction of seeing it on cloth for a while (it's taking forever to get this one finished).

Can't wait to see how yours turns out.

I can't stand winter, except for the skiing, which as we know in Australia is short and sometimes sparce. Must be winter inspiring all these papercut type prints, I have been paper cutting and linocut printing like crazy since Winter moved in.

In the high 90s Fahrenheit for the past two days here in New York, with more to come this week... I'll gladly trade you for a lovely wintry day. Ah, winter, my favorite season!
