Terraces

I really like rows of victorian terrace houses. Not just because they have a level of pretty detail and ornament that's lacking from modern architecture, but also because I know that if I'm near them I can't be too far away from the city - and to me that's a comforting thing.

So, over the last few evenings I've spent a fair bit of time drawing terrace houses...

It's hard to see here but there's a lot of detail in them, possibly too much to be used at small sizes, so I'm a little unsure what I can do with this one... but it was fun to make, anyway.

They are really cute, and neat, did you just draw it like that without retouch?

LOVE!!! Fabric please:) I have a weakness for fabric/architecture combinations. So wonderful. I am seeing placemats and curtains and throw pillows, oh my!

wow!! those so remind me of the sketches I used to do for architectural drafting class; only mine were never so pretty and inspiring. ;) I agree with the ideas that this would make a *great* fabric!!

You should make it into a book, like they have done here:

http://www.amazon.com/Paris-Sketchbook-Graham-Byfield/dp/0312284160/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-0219829-2531327?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1178569559&sr=8-1

There is a great and cheap online company that will print books for you, but the name escapes me now.

Thats what I like about Aussie houses. The last time I went there (to Sydney though) I saw all the brick terraced houses with the ironwork balconies and thought they were so cute! We dont have anything like that here though (cute wooden bungalows will have to do :) ) You have really captured their charm.

I love terrace houses too. Here in Canberra we don't have any of course, but when I lived in Sydney a few years ago, top of my list was to live in an old terrace. Love them! :) Make it into fabric!

Those are fabulous! Of course, you should design a fabric with them! You should place them in different 90 degree orientations. I promise you they will be a hit. Love your blog!

OK, let me try this again with my name this time!

Terrace houses are so cheap in Ballarat it's not funny. It's the modern ugly ones that are expensive. :)

Do you study architecture? Or do you do art? I think whats the point of replicating what you see? as a study that these drawings are damn fine. but as a final product i think they lack thought and imagination. there isn't an energy in your sketches. no personal input. do something different. i'm sure you'll do fine.
