Slowing down

A lot of people resonated with my recent post about perspective, and can understand how hard it is to just slow down every now and then.

I have finally begun a week without a to-do list that stretches multiple pages, and can feel myself winding down slightly. And fittingly, whilst in the dentist waiting room this morning (yes some good things can come out of the dentist!) I discovered this very apt book:

"The Slow Guide to Melbourne is for anybody who wants to slow down and live it up, seachange without shifting postcode. It celebrates all that’s local, natural, traditional, sensory and most of all gratifying about living in Melbourne."

It's great! I didn't get much time to read it so just ordered my own copy - but this is very much my sort of book. I tend to take delight in small things, like watching pods appear one by one on the new ferris wheel :)

That sounds brilliant; very sensible and refreshing. Thanks for sharing! I'm off to investigate getting a copy (slowly of course).

Love it, want it. You Melburnians, always something cool on the go. Far too much craftiness for one city. Maybe I can slowly sew this week instead of my usual flat out, full tilt heady sewing speeds. Pics look excellent as well.

my friend lent me a copy of this book just before my recent trip to Melbourne. It is good.

I think I want this book. Love the pic of Fitzroy pool. In the depths of an Irish winter (especially byu about the third or fourth one) I used to have little fantasies about swimming a slow lap in that pool under a big blue sky. (When I tried to explain it to one of the locals they just didn't understand.....).

Ahh... Melbourne. I'm glad I came home.

We are watching the pods appear too. We have a great view from our kitchen window and Arthur seems to believe it is his own ferris wheel. I'm yet to have a peek at the slow guide.
