The absence of making

Lately it's been too easy to spend so much time researching and thinking and plotting and planning and forecasting and organizing... that there's no time for actually creating. I feel like I haven't had time to sit down and do my own thing in aaaaages.

The closest thing I've managed to do is spend some time in the kitchen making biscotti (recipe here):

Biscotti, Shinzi and steadfastly NOT a Mac

I would like to spend some time this weekend down at Royal Park drawing some native plant life. That would be nice.

LOL! I know *exactly* how you feel. Thats what got me started with my website. If I was spending this much time hunting for projects, I know others must be too! Nice to know I'm not alone.

I must try that biscotti recipe! That's one of my favorite weekend breakfasts, biscotti, coffee and the Sunday paper.

Ha! To tell you where my mind is, the first thing I noticed is that your computer is NOT a mac! I hear you on the creating part. I'm fortunate to have 40 minutes on a train to and fro work these days... but my mind is so busy with details, it's hardly creatively productive these days. And look at me talking like 40 minutes is the ultimate in "free time". There's something wrong with this picture. Pass a biscotti, please!

Wow I find myself in the situation and I have found that the planning and scheduling are important moments that are necessary for me to do, My thought are just clearer when I get the non creative stuff out of the way. I keep a sketch book near me and I take breaks in the midst of my non-making time. I have found that more more intricate design sketches take a longer time to leave my sketch book :0...which is something I definitely need to work on.

I had the same thought this morning. I spent so long writing lists of the artwork that I want to do and scheduling everything to do with it, I ended up sitting back and thinking that I should have spent all that time just DOING some artwork!!
and work - if only i could kick that one ;) I'm going to have to work this weekend now to make up for what I haven't done earlier in the week! Whoops...
I'm also finding way to many blogs that I love and keep reading when I should be working. HA! Ok, back to it.
(But I do like the biscotti idea - now sure I've ever tried it...)

Oh I know fully well what you mean. I've been so lacking in any type of creative department & nothing to share or enjoy - just trying to tread water right now. Hope you get the creative time you crave.

Looks good. I am impressed you've found the time even for that.
