Hello Flemington my new friend

my new flat - living area
My new flat - living area with nice big north facing window

So, it's still a work in progress, but I thought it was time to show you some pictures of my new flat. Right now it very much feels like my safe place, where I can be myself, do whatever I like. I feel very fortunate to have such a space. That said it's been a hard, hard few weeks so far... and I hover between not wanting to be sociable at all and knowing that getting out and about is probably good for me.

my new flat - lounge & bedroom
My new flat - bedroom & trainscroll finally up on the wall :)

my new flat - living area
My new flat - trying to fill up the walls

I spent about half a minute looking at this place before handing in my application form. I didn't spend any time looking at the bathroom or kitchen or bedrooms properly, I just knew straight away that it felt right. With loads of natural light and windows facing almost all directions I was taken by it immediately.

my new flat - sun filled kitchen
The kitchen & still messy spare bedroom - full of sunlight :)

The kitchen - albeit tiny - is a robin's egg/mint kind of colour. Win! And even tho it has hardly any cupboard space I don't mind that open shelving, it's kind of cute.

my new flat - and new couch!
My new couchy friend, some familiar looking cushions and my Kirin (giraffe) collection.

So yeah. That's where I'm at so far. Emotionally bleh, but trying to stay positive. And at least this new home helps cheer me up a bit.

xx

You have the place looking beautiful. God, I'd kill for a spare room. I am good for and unsocial chill/visit! Come over soon... When I am unpacked. You know the place!

You're just killing me here with envy. Would love a little abode like that to call home. It's cute with a capital C.

Wonderful! Such a great space to call your own! When things are hard, I like to think of the phrase "The Universe is Conspiring in My Favor." There are great things just around the corner, and I tell myself to get excited for them...for the surprise of good things to come. Hugs!

Your new place is beautiful - I love your couch and the lamp on the table is gorgeous. That light is just the best and the I&S fabrics everywhere give it such a great look.
I hope things get easier for you soon. I think it's ok not to want to go out all of the time when you're transitioning. Getting used to the new space is important too.
Do try and stay positive though .. easier said than done, I know, but it helps :)

Hi Lara, the place looks beautiful (I'm a tad jealous). I hope things are OK. I might see you Sunday at the market (if I can get past the swarms of people wanting your fabrics). Hugs, x Suz

There's nothing like making a place yours. I think it will be good for you (so will those north-facing windows!) and I hope you will feel more yourself again soon :)

I think you might also have my dream couch -it's gorgeous.

(And I'll confess, my spare room is still in an awful state , and I've been here TWO years! Isn't that attrocious? I keep the door shut at all times, so when I finally get it sorted to a state where I can keep the door open, it will seem like I've suddenly got an extension - haha!!)

Wow your place looks amazing. You've inspired me to get onto framing and decorating!

I did a similar thing 3 years ago too. It's hard but I can't imagine life having been any other way now.

Your house is beautiful! I love the way you have decorated it.You have great style.

Our second house had north facing french doors. I never 'got' aspect before then, we bought our third house because of it's aspect. I love north! And would never live without it now. I am sure it will cheer your mood and make a difference to your days.

Being a sensitive, creative soul is hard sometimes, isn't it?

You guys are all SO lovely, thanks so much for your kind words!

For anyone who's curious, the couch is from a shop called Dwell in Kensington. I had my eye on it for a good 6 months before finally being able to buy it :)
