Since I got that last batch of fabric printed I've been putting pressure on myself to come up with some really good designs for the next patterns. So many ideas have come and gone thru my head, some have made it onto paper and some have made it to the final stages of development only for me to decide that they're just not working.
It's also quite a challenge to limit oneself to just a single colour for screen printing. I could go two colours but that'd make the print cost quite expensive, and not quite worth it at this early stage. Patterns that a lot of people like such as crafty bits wouldn't really work in only one colour, and I reckon i'd have to confidently sell 100 metres of it to justify the setup cost.
Meanwhile, I think this one is really working. I can just see it being made into a lampshade or panel in a bag. I wanted to do a design that was a bit looser and more random than my usual stuff, which typically has a very even coverage. Looks best enlarged:

Hello lady down the street living parallel life!! My head has been filled with fabric design ideas all weekend and then I sit at the computer and can make - nothin'.
I like the birds. Birds are always a winner & the four screen set up - Id be way too scared of that, although if I go nearly as well as you have with the fabrics maybe we can strike a share a screen deal?
Hej Lara
Again - wonderful pattern!
I was thinking about making an Obi-like belt out of the fabric I bought from you {besides making a lampshade out of it} - wouldn't that be cool? I've been wearing a lot of fitted t-shirts/tunic tops lately and I think that wearing a patterned obi with it would be so cool... what do you think?
off to bed now
{it's 4 AM over here}
Hi Lara,
Wow you have been busy lately!
Thanks for letting me use crafty bits in a drawing! (will get around to it easter weekend- I have ideas)- heres an idea for it as a single colour print- for all the coloured (not black) areas, reduce them to a line (try filling them with a texture or pattern if you want), for the spools of thread detail them more (show the thread criss crossing on itself)- if it doesnt work i'll settle on a print :)
the bird print looks great! I love clouds and I love birds so putting them together is nice. I think it would look great as a bag or an auntie dress
That's a beautiful print!
I like that new pattern a lot!
This pattern is fantastic! It would look great on some softies too :-)
ooo, love your new prints! birds are lovely.
definitely a winner..just love those birds.....
Ditto on the birds. Especially in the first colourway. Congratulations on your other fabric that I saw over at Amitie. Wow. What a thrill that would have to be.
Doesn't the black pop.
these are beautiful! i'm always inspired seeing canadian geese in flight.
The positive-negative work is nice. It's very Escher-like. And of course, the color combo is great - black & limey.
I really like these. I'm having trouble picking the colorway i prefer. I would for sure purchase this one if it were made available!
ps my fabric came and i love it!
ooooo! i like this pattern a LOT. i see it on the cushion cover i've been wanting to make (not a very original use, granted, but there you go).
though could you maybe make in a colour that isn't greeny-yellow?
i'm not so much loving the greeny-yellow. a slatey grey-blue could be nice? or rust brown-orange-red?
Love it! Great job Lara. I understand the pressure thing, it can put a hold on designing sometimes.
I think the bird print would look good as a tote bag, pouch or as a sunglass case.
I could see the print on white becoming a nice lounge shirt for men in the 70's, like something from Fear and Loathing. I really love the design!
the birds are wonderful!
beautiful pattern..great work!
these are truly beautiful. they make me want to jump in the car and take a drive through the dandenongs. :}
