Back to pattern design for a bit. I'm tending to favour designs that can work with a limited colour palette - a single colour even, so that when I finally get around to printing them I can do a 1 colour screen print.
A splash of colour variation:
Bit sleepy so the words aren't coming tonight. I've been working my way through The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain recently though. Has anyone else tried it? It's fantastic so far and although I can already more or less draw, there's heaps of insight into the drawing mindset and how to 'see' like an artist does.
Sleep time, g'night :)

That book is fantastic, my Mum got it for me in high school. I use a lot of the stuff in the book with my students, particularly starting them off with the blind contour drawings. They think they are garbage, but often the line work they do is great, they just can't see the magic in it because it isn't super realism!
Oh wow, great patterns you have going on there. Oh how I so wish they are printed on paper just in time to wrap up some of my gifts... :)
I only recently read Drawing on The Right Side... I've always been sceptical (snobbish?) about how-to-draw books, but you're right, the insight into the drawing mindset is really useful and takes you so much further than you thought you could go!
From someone who is 24 hours away from leaving the rag-trade (oh JOY!), and having spent the last three years looking at fabric yardages, I LOVE these clean, simple designs. Somehow graphic and organic at once! You almost make me nostalgic for my job...almost, but not quite!
i love this pattern, especially the multicolored one. I am very into repeating prints right now... I think that pattern really wants to be a dress (a dress in my closet!)
Thanks for the kind comment on my site. You think I should go into metalwork (hee hee).
I like the single colour design a lot - actually, I like all your designs. Very inspiring.
oh your new designs are incredible, i love them more and more. they get better and better!!!
Great design. I love the three color version.
That book is excellent & an old art teacher also passed on the skill...how to switch from left brain to right brain when you want to be creative. Your riverstones designs are beautiful.
Oh, yes! Single colour printing... I know just what you mean.
Wonderful designs, as always.
see you, grache
I love the second print. The colors are amazing. I hope this is one chosen for printing.
