hey. it seems that i've taken a bit of an unexpected blogging break. just haven't been in the space for it, which is sad. last week i started feeling down, and thought it'd go away, but haven't been able to shake it, and still can't figure out what the problem is. I think it might be routine. Routine is awesome and is often my bestest friend, but it seems to have turned on me now that it involves scripting these two flash websites ever day for a couple of months. Where's the creativity in that? I think it's killing me.
I've been keeping myself vaguely sane by painting mini artworks on the back of little Laminate swatches that I pilfered from Bunnings. I saw an artist on Flickr (I forget who, sorry!) doing something similar and thought it was a great idea. And being so tiny they're not intimidating to paint on at all.
They're a bit unoriginal and illustrator-ish in my opinion, but practice and inspiration should fix that :)

Uoriginal??? Certainly not! They are incredibly endearing and I'd love to see more of them!
must be something in the air, i'm completely uninspired to blog lately as well. great little paintings, though - i'm loving the little red maple leaves, reminds me of canada : )
i *love them. they are so sweet. what gorgeous designs. every crafting thing that people do, even if the concept comes from someone else, is unique and therefore just as valued.
I love the tiny paintings too!
Hey Lara, I know what you mean and how you feel with the website thing. I feel this way a lot too (I work in the web design industry also). Just got to battle through to the end of it and think about the creative crafty things you're going to do - like your little paintings...they're lovely!
don't you hate it when you have seen something you want to tell people about, but can't remember who or where it was!
I've been painting on plywood, and it has been fun. Great material for cutting shapes too.
I think it is very natural to go through these 'new' ideas. It is all preogession. Your images are very cute.
these are such beautiful drawings. treasures!
Hi!
I just wanted to comment on your little swatch paintings, this is exactly how I got started painting ACEO's. They are art cards that I sell, along with other artists on Ebay, Etsy, and Artcardswanted. (all are dot coms)You can find some of my work by going to ebay and typing skyM into the search. There are many other fascinating works in the ACEO category so be sure to check those out too! I STILL paint on paint chip samples to this day! They're fantastic! skylar mccready skyM
