a little bit of picture framing

new prints
New prints with DIY mat board

A few weeks ago I decided to redo the prints on my wall. I had a few etsy finds that needed new homes, and was kind of over my old faux-ornate frames, so trekked out to Ikea to get a bunch of modern ones.

I also invested in a mat cutting ruler, bevel cutter and some sheets of mat board, so I could cut the mats to suit my prints properly. It was hard at first but heaps of fun once I got the hang of it. Might post a tute about that soon!

Keep Calm and Ride On - love this print, matches my wall!

Another bit of prettiness making me happy around my flat - this amazing bunch of native (ish) flowers that I got to take home from a friends' "non-wedding" celebration. There were bunches like this everywhere and I was so excited to be able to take a bunch home! They did them all themselves - fantastic huh??

The pic with your bike in it is glorious! (Love that print too). BTW - the hanging bird branch mobile - is that one of yours? I noticed in the photo of your sewing machine in a recent post that the piece of wood in the background has the inverse shape cut out of it. Let me guess: the handiwork of your friends at Like Butter??

I have always loved doing my own framing and yours look absolutely fantastic.

Lovely! I'd love a tute, it sounds like the sensible things to do (it's so expecsive to buy them!) but it's intimidating...

Love your prints framed up - it does make a difference doesn't it when they are framed. What is a 'non wedding'?

I'd love a tutorial on mat cutting - I've always been too intimidated to try!

I've wondered about cutting my own mats. Yours look great.

I particularly like the keep calm & ride on above your bike.

Beautiful - love the bicycle poster especially...

Second that a mat cutting tute would be fantastic...

Genius idea about cutting the board yourself - I never thought of that, just wondered why pre-made ones never fitted MY prints. Duh!

adding to the cry for a matt cutting tutorial.
was given the gear and have come close to hurling it out the window in frustration.
really don't want to do that.

So need a tutorial on that! I need some prints to go up alongside a bit of your fabric that I just framed! ;) I'd have a Lara wall!!

Your new place is looking beautiful! Inspiring for me too as I'm going through a separation and looking for a new place to call home...so daunting, but you help me to see it can be done....and well!
