My first ever armchair

Melbournians - wasn't yesterday The Best Weather Day Ever?? We're only two weeks into Spring and hardly get weather as perfect as that all Summer long.

I spent the day out and about with friends Karin and Maz, visiting galleries and second hand shops around Fitzroy. Always very inspiring. Maz warned me that it's hard to go into the Lost and Found market and not come out with anything. And sure enough:

armchair found at the Lost & Found market
1960's armchair to recover, plus Peg Bear by One Red Robin & Quilt-that-I-hope-to-finish-soon

It took about two seconds thought to buy this one after seeing the reasonable-ish pricetag. My first thought was to reupholster it in some of my fabric but have since decided that something neutral actually works well and then I can put whatever cute & colourful things I want on it.

I'm thinking something similarly grey, woolly & tweedy but not so textured & carpet-y as it currently is. Any idea where I should look for something like that??

It was love at first sight for my arm chair as well. I'd stalked the donation trucks for weeks to find the perfect one and I finally did.
You can go check out my blog and see how fabulous it is if you'd like.
And I love that bear. It's too cute!

Try Warwick in Sackville St, Collingwood for inspiration of commercial grade fabrics. I got a sample and my restorer chased it up. Great showroom too.

Nice find! I've been looking around for one those (although given I'm scouting hard waste there hasn't been much sucess!)
I think it'll look fabulous in anything!

I LOVE Lost and Found market, that place is amazing. I've only been in there once but I left with so many things that I've banned myself from going back in fear of sending myself bankrupt!

Great plan to keep in neutral: that way you can have a revolving collection of colourful things so you don't get tired of any of them. Much easier to make a new cushion than to reupholster...again!

I love the colour combination of the quilt - I especially like the raindrop fabric. I see that it is available in grey and raspberry in the Kelani store, is it available anywhere in the yellow and aqua??

I re-covered mine with some Lotta Jansdotter fabric and they are perfect. Have fun!

Great armchair. If you want some seriously yummy upholstery fabric try Kvadrat Maharam. :)

There are many different styles and options available today if are looking for a leather chair. One category that encompasses a huge percentage of them is the leather armchair. They are also the most popular, by far.
