grasses & seaweed

I haven't created any new patterns in ages so today I worked with a couple of ideas that were in my sketchbook. I dunno, I think I'm expecting more from myself these days - that or I'm over the illustrated & LiveTraced look. Time to move on to some new techniques. Meanwhile here's where I'm at:

Colour is the hardest part I find. Good colours can turn a so-so pattern into a great one, but good colour selection is a skill i'm still working on... ahhh, we are our hardest critic ;)

Hello. Both patterns are lovely, but I really love "seaweed."

Lovely patterns!! I love how whimsical and organic they are...

So true. I do really well with just black and white but tend to panic a little when it comes to selecting colors for things! It can be so hard sometimes, especially when a piece isn't "telling me" what color it wants. But I have to say, your patterns have the loveliest colors! :)

These patterns are terrific. Especially the wheat ones. Very cool.

Wow, thank you all for the really encouraging comments!

pinkmohair - you saw them somewhere else!? Do you remember where? These ones haven't ventured further than my blog and flickr, unless there's some dodgy business going on!

love these patterns, especially the bottom 2 and LOVE the colour choices, one of my favourite combo's is blues with citrus colours.

as an ex-printed textiles person who doodles prints in her spare time, but never actually prints them, it's nice to see someone who does both.
