But our building is under threat and we require your URGENT action! The owners of the Younghusband building are asking the City of Melbourne to rezone the site so that they can erect 12, 8 and 7-story residential towers.
This development will destroy the small business and cultural hub that has emerged over the last few years, leaving artists, designers and other creative small businesses without studio and office space.
Please submit your objection by tomorrow Thursday 19th of May at the LATEST.

Oh my goodness! That's outrageous. I do not want to see some awful development in place of that building and see this sweet village turned on its head by such an influx...not to mention the loss of such a great creative hub. Objection submitted! Wishing you the best of luck and keep us posted.

that is so terrible. yes: melbourne needs more medium density housing to halt the urban sprawl. but destroying such a beautiful building is NOT the way to do it.
i would like to say that i'm surprised that the heritage council hasn't stepped in, but unfortunately they have too much to do...
it is such a shame that so few buildings are (legally) protected in melbourne: we claim to be 'the european' city, and the 'art capital'. how can we claim this when we don't protect the exact things that made us so?
